  1. than to really write my thesis. I found myself stuck 
  2. after a six and a half or seven years of useless 
  3. reading of uselessly boring plays from the 18th 
  4. century, trying to write my thesis on the 
  5. decadence of tragic art, and 18th-century  France. 
  6. What a topic! I was really quite unhappy. And again 
  7. this table seems to have played a big role in my life. 
  8. Because I was leaning on it looking very miserable 
  9. and again McLuhan sort of talked to me, as me 
  10. rather than just a student. And said ‚ÄúYou look 
  11. very glum today. What‚Äôs your problem?‚Äù And I said 
  12. ‚ÄúWell my problem is I am going to leave my PhD 
  13. studies. I will never finish this thesis. I can‚Äôt stand 
  14. it. I am not going to be able to keep my job, I‚Äôll just
